We are at war.  This is the first thing the global Left must understand before we can move any further.  This war has two major fronts, ecological sustainability and economic democracy.  Within these fronts there are many battles, from reducing ecological footprints and instating true cost accounting to living wages and fair trade initiatives to clean elections and universal healthcare, among too many others to name.  We must not confuse these battles for the war itself.  The Left has little to counter the totality of neoliberal global capitalism; we may have strategies for the small battles yet we are lost when we try to give totality to the global Left.

Dionysus Unemployed attempts to give totality to the global Left; it attempts develop strategies for this war.  Such a large endeavor is destined for failure, and it is with the security of failure that we distribute this journal throughout the United States and Europe.
